Between February 21st and February 28th, the Shelburne Police Service responded to 65 calls for service.  Below are some of the highlights.

Male Charged with Threats and Harassment

On February 25th 2010, the Shelburne Police Service received a complaint in relation to a threat of death.  The police investigation revealed that a male had attended an apartment in town and threatened to kill another male.  As a result, 24-year-old, Terry REE of the Shelburne was arrested and charged with Uttering Threats and Criminal Harassment.  REE was held in custody for a bail hearing.


Reckless Driving gets Police Attention and Passenger Arrested

On February 24th 2010 just after 9:00AM police observed a pickup truck in the area of the Centre Dufferin District High School being driven in a reckless fashion.  Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the male teenage driver and passenger.  Both males were known to police and the passenger was known to be on conditions not to communicate with the driver.   As a result, a 15-year-old male, who cannot be named under the YCJA, was arrested and charged with Failing to Comply.  He was given a court date in Orangeville. 

The 17-year-old driver was also charged with Failing to Drive in Marked Lane.


Police respond to Domestic Dispute – Male Arrested

On February 22nd 2010 just after 2PM the Shelburne Police Service responded to a residence for a domestic dispute.  During the investigation police discovered that the female victim had been assaulted on three separate occasions this year.  As a result, 25-year-old Brandon Lonsberry of Shelburne was arrested and charged with three counts of assault.  He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.


Police Solve Fail to Remain Collision

On February 25th 2010, police entered in an investigation after a witness attended the Shelburne Police Service to report a motor vehicle collision.  The witness had observed a Honda Civic hatchback turn in front of a transport truck on Main Street, almost striking it.  The vehicle lost control and struck a parked car.  Instead of obeying the law and stopping, the driver quickly fled the scene. 

On February 26th 2010, police reviewed CCTV cameras from the downtown core and were able to identify a suspect vehicle.  Later that evening an officer observed the suspect vehicle which had fresh damage from a collision.  Police quickly discovered this was the vehicle and driver that had failed to remain at the scene of the accident on February 25th. 

As a result, 21-year-old Matt Borges of Mono Township was arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offence of Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident.  He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act for Careless Driving.  He was released and given a court date in Orangeville.
