Between May 23rd and March 31st 2010 the Shelburne Police Service responded to 132 calls for service.  During the month of May, Shelburne Police laid a total of 196 Provincial and Criminal charges. 

Below are some of the highlights:


Male Charged with Mischief and Criminal Harassment

On May 23rd 2010 at 5:25PM, the Shelburne Police Service responded to a reported break and enter.  Investigation revealed that there was not a break and enter, however a suspect had kicked at the door causing significant damage. 

As a result of the police investigation, 26-year-old, Brian MacDONALD of Orangeville was arrested and charged with Mischief Under $5000 and Criminal Harassment. He was released from police custody and given a court date in Orangeville. 
 

Male Arrested and Charged After Lying to Police

On May 25th 2010, a Shelburne Police officer was conducting radar on Main Street and stopped a vehicle for a traffic offence. 

The driver of the vehicle identified himself with a Driver’s Licence that did not belong to him.  Investigation revealed that the driver had identified himself a family member.

Furthermore, the driver was found to be a suspended driver. 

As a result, 28-year-old Ricky RAVIKASH is charged with Obstruct Police, Persontation, Drive Under Suspension, Use Other Person’s Licence and Speeding.  He was released from custody and given a court date in Orangeville. 


Impaired Driver Taken Off the Road

On May 29th 2010, a Shelburne Police officer stopped a motor vehicle on Highway 10.  As a result of the investigation it was determined that the driver of the vehicle had been consuming alcohol.  A roadside was preformed with a ‘Fail’ being registered.  The driver was arrest and after completing the intoxilayzer tests it was determined that he was over the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle. 

Charged with Impaired Operation and Over 80 is 27-year-old Tyler Coffey of Shelburne.  He was released and given a court date in Orangeville.
 

Assault at High School results in Charges

On May 31st 2010, Shelburne Police responded to a assault that had occurred at Centre Dufferin District High School.  Investigation revealed a female had assaulted another female causing her to lose consciousness and was transported to hospital.

As a result, a 17-year-old female was arrested and charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Criminal Harassment and Mischief Under $5000.
 

Facebook Modeling Scan

The Shelburne Police Service would like warn Parents and Teens of a Face Book Modeling Scam that has been brought to our attention.  Over the course of the past 2 weeks a number of teenage girls have been approached by an Unknown Person via Face Book e mails claiming to be a representative of the Ford Models Agency.  This agency is a legitimate modeling agency with offices throughout North America including Toronto.  The Unknown representative advises the young ladies that they could be selected for a 1 month modeling contract.  The Unknown Person then asks the young ladies to send photographs of themselves to the attached address to allegedly start their portfolio.  Once these photographs are sent the Unknown Person gets a then requests more graphic and revealing photographs.

The Shelburne Police Service would like Parents in the community to monitor their children's use of the Internet and be aware of this Face Book Modeling Scam.  Should any family have information on a similar incident please contact the Shelburne Police.
