Between January 31st and February 7th, the Shelburne Police Service responded to 77 calls for service. Below are the highlights of calls.
Residence Broken into – Public Assistance Requested
On February 4th 2010 the Shelburne Police Service were
dispatched to an apartment on James Street. Unknown person(s) had entered the
apartment sometime between February 1st and 3rd. Once
inside a DVD player and a Play station Portable were taken. Anyone with
information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers or the Shelburne Police
Service.
Traffic Complaint Results in 90 Day Licence Suspension
On February 1st 2010 at 7:35AM the Shelburne Police Service were advised of a male at a store that appeared to be intoxicated and had been driving. Police quickly located the male driving a vehicle. A roadside test was conducted and the driver failed. He was arrested and transported to the police station. Two breath samples were obtained and as a result of the readings a 53-year-old Shelburne man was issued a 90 day licence suspension. The male was not charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle as the readings were slightly below the legal limit.
Drugs Seized at Traffic Stop
On February 1st 2010, a member of the Shelburne Police Service observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle was stopped and a subsequent investigation resulted in a total of 75 grams of marijuana being located in the vehicle. Charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance is a male 21-year-old Shelburne resident. He was released at the side of the road and given a court date in Orangeville.

Stunt Driving
On February 6th 2010, a member of the Shelburne Police Service was conducting radar on Highway 89 just east of County Road # 124. A vehicle was observed to be traveling at a high rate of speed and was clocked at a speed of 141 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone. The vehicle was stopped and the 17 year old driver was found to be a G2 licence holder. He was charged with Stunt Driving – In Excess of 50 km/hr and Speeding. His licence was suspended and rental vehicle seized for a period of seven days.
