Between July 4th and July 11th 2010 the Shelburne Police Service responded to 73 calls for service. 

Below are highlights of the calls for service:

Search Warrant Executed – Drugs Seized – Charges Laid

On July 10th 2010 members of the Shelburne Police Service executed a search warrant on a Main Street West apartment.  As a result of the search warrant a quantity of marihuana was seized and the following persons were charged: 

Christopher MOFFATT, 20, of Shelburne

Charges:

Brendan RUSK, 19, of Orangeville

Charges:

Brandon LONSBERRY, 25, of Shelburne

Charges:

Also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Production of a Controlled Substance is a 17-year-old female from Orangeville.  She can not be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

This search warrant was executed only days after the conclusion of Project “Snow Belt” which resulted in the simultaneous execution of 9 Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrants in Shelburne, Orangeville and three townships throughout Dufferin County.  “We want people to know that keeping our community safe is a top priority.  Drug enforcement did not end with Project “Snow Belt”; it takes place daily” states Chief Kent Moore. 
 

Male Arrested for Breaching Release Conditions

On July 6th 2010 at 10:40PM, members of the Shelburne Police Service received a call regarding a male who appeared to be intoxicated.  Police stopped the male to investigate and discovered that he had been arrested and released in 2009 with conditions to abstain from alcohol. 

As such, 34-year-old Jason Johnston of Orangeville was arrested and charged with failing to comply with conditions.  He was subsequently released and given a court date in Orangeville.
 

Police busy with Impaired Drivers and Related Offences

During the early morning hours of July 9th 2010 members of the Shelburne Police Service conducted a R.I.D.E. program in the area of County Road 124 and Steeles Avenue.  A vehicle was stopped and an odour of alcohol was detected from the breath of the male driver.  The driver failed the roadside screening test and was arrested.  Subsequent Intoxilyzer tests confirmed the male was not only impaired but was almost three times the legal limit.  Charged with Impaired Driving and Operate Motor Vehicle Over 80 mgs is 49-year-old Richard Beaulieu of Shelburne.  He was released and given a court date in Orangeville.

On July 10th 2010 at 12:45AM a member of the Shelburne Police Service stopped a vehicle and learned the driver had been consuming alcohol.  The driver was found to have a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) between .05% and .08%.  The driver was also determined to have had a previous Administrative Licence Suspension and as a result the 42-year-old male was issued a seven-day licence suspension. 

Later the same day at 7:20PM, a member of the Shelburne Police Service stopped a vehicle for speeding.  The officer discovered the driver had been consuming alcohol and he was subsequently arrested for Operate Motor Vehicle Over .08 mgs.  He was transported to the Shelburne Police station and intoxilyzer tests showed he was almost twice the legal limit.  Charged with Operate Motor Vehicle Over 80 mgs is 37-year-old Robert Zettle of Shelburne.  He was released and given a court date in Orangeville.

On July 11th 2010 at 2:06AM, a member of the Shelburne Police Service stopped a vehicle being driven erratically.  The driver was found to have been consuming alcohol and failed a roadside screening test.  He was transported to the Shelburne Police station and provided two intoxilyzer tests.  As a result, 21-year-old Wade Pirrie of Shelburne is charged with Impaired Driving and Operate Motor Vehicle Over 80 mgs.  He was given a court date in Orangeville.  

At 4:33AM a member of the Shelburne Police Service stopped a motor vehicle that was being driven erratically.  The driver was found to have a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) between .05% and .08%.  A 22-year-old male was issued a three day Administrative Licence Suspension.
