Between March 7th until March 21st 2010 the Shelburne Police Service responded to 113 calls for service. Below are some of the highlights.
Theft Investigation results in Charges for Three People
On March 8th 2010, Shelburne Police were advised of a theft of merchandise from a downtown store. Police reviewed the surveillance tapes and recognized one of the people involved. Police quickly located and attempted to arrest the male party and a struggle ensued. One officer was kicked repeatedly and threatened by the male, but did not suffer any long term injury. As a result, 20-year-old Kyle Haley of no fixed address was arrested and charged with Assaulting a Police Officer X2, Uttering Threats, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Breach of Probation. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Mucha of Shelburne.
Another Arrest from Hardware Store Investigation
Shelburne Police are continuing their investigation into thefts from Fines Home Hardware. As a result of further investigation, on March 18th 2010 police arrested 33-year-old Bruce Elliott of Shelburne. Elliott is charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime. He was released from custody and given a court date in Orangeville.
This investigation is continuing and further arrests are pending.

Threats and Dangerous Driving
On March 18th 2010, Shelburne Police received a complaint of a vehicle which swerved towards a group of people. The driver also made threatening comments directed at one of the people in the group. As a result, a seventeen-year-old male from Orangeville was arrested and charged with Uttering Threats and Dangerous Driving. He was released on conditions with a court date in Orangeville.
Theft at Hospital Fundraiser Results
in Numerous Charges
On March 21st 2010, police were called to the Royal Canadian Legion due to a disturbance. On scene officers learned that an un-invited male party had stolen an auction item that was being used to raise money for Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. The item was recovered and the suspect was escorted out of the event. While being escorted out the suspect pushed a female staff member. Two other males came to her assistance and the suspect then assaulted one of the males, striking him in the face causing injuries.
As a result, 23-year-old Robin Sykes of Shelburne was arrested and charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Assault and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. He was released and given a court date in Orangeville.
